Jim Sutton

Here is why you should choose the Jim Sutton Institute of Guitar School for your home study program. Foremost, is the structure of the studies themselves. All of the studies are designed from the ground up to fit together. This was done so that you don’t have random bits of information and holes in your education. Each study fits together like a big puzzle. The end result is a skilled player able to write, arrange, solo, and perform with confidence. A considerable amount of time is invested in making sure that the studies match your needs and goals.

Questions are answered on an individual basis, so you don’t have to hunt around and hit or miss. We can help you learn songs as part of your program, but our main goal is to help you get the whole picture of how it all works. How to play guitar, how to understand music theory for guitar, how to write guitar solos, how to play beginning guitar, how to play advanced guitar, how to play an ad lib solo, and so on.

The Jim Sutton Institute of Guitar was established in 1984, so we have a long successful track record  of helping guitar players of all levels. We offer a certificate on completion of the Music Theory Course for Guitar Players, and the Modal and Solo Composition Course for Guitar Players. You can take the course studies with or without turning in assignments to be graded. Either way, you still receive all the support you need to help you understand what you are doing.

We have a course aimed at beginning and intermediate guitar players called The Moving Toward Great Guitar Playing Course.

We have a course for intermediate and moving into advanced guitar players called The Music Theory Course for Guitar Players.

We have a course for advanced guitar players called The Modal and Solo Composition Course for Guitar Players.

There are over 90 Supplementary Studies which are topic specific, and as mentioned before, all work together to make one cohesive picture. This is a quality education at an affordable price.

If you are curious to see where you would fit in the program, there is no risk to getting the evaluation and information package sent to you.
